The Late Enrollment Penalty is an amount that is permanently added to your Medicare drug coverage (Part D) premium. You may owe a late enrollment penalty if at any time after your Initial Enrollment Period is over there is a period of 63 or more days in a row when you do not have Medicare drug coverage, or other creditable prescription drug coverage. You will generally have to pay the penalty for as long as you have Medicare drug coverage. Please contact the Customer Service number at 1 (888) 428-4440, 7 days a week from 8AM to 8PM EST (October 1st – March 31st) or Monday through Friday 8 AM to 8 PM EST (April 1st – September 30th) for assistance if you feel that this penalty was applied in error.
